OUR NEWEST BOOK HOUSE
On June 30th, 2025 our newest book house was installed outside the Frozen Pelican restaurant in Melrose. Now, when you go to enjoy food and ice cream, you can get a book as well. The premise of our book houses is “take a book, leave a book”. In doing so, there will be plenty of books to share with the community. If you don’t have a book to leave the first time you visit, don’t worry, just bring back the one you read when you come back to get another book! There are four book houses around the Melrose community. that are sponsored by the Melrose Library Association. Below are the locations and addresses of our five book houses. The Frozen Pelican: 854 N State Road 21, Melrose St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church: County Road 219, Melrose Faith Presbyterian Church: 2738 State Road 21, Melrose Melrose Bay Park: 25500 Devonia Street, Melrose Beside the Earleton Post Office: 10012 NE County Road 1469, Earleton Although it’s not an MLA book house, visit the book house outside the Melrose Center too.
Camellia Sale and Breakfast 2026
It’s almost time for the MLA Camellia Sale and Breakfast scheduled for January 31, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. Once again, Mark Crawford from Loch Laurel Nursery will bring his beautiful plants to Melrose at Trinity Episcopal Church, 204 SR 26. The plants will be sold for $35.00 each. Come early for the best selection. Sales will start at 9:00 a.m. (and not before) and will continue until sold out. Along with the plant sale, you’re invited to enjoy a breakfast available for purchase for $8.00 per plate. All items on the breakfast buffet will be homemade: casseroles, muffins, biscuits and gravy, and more. There will also be a used book sale table and a gift table for you to make purchases. All proceeds from this event will be used for programs at the library as well as future improvements. See you there!
